Another crazy part of unemployment is people suggesting jobs you’re not interested in and getting mad when you refuse to do them. “You can go and teach in a kindergarten for now…” And God forbid you want more than being a teacher. You’ll be termed ungrateful and lazy.

i tried to hold a seat at the little café corner inside 7/11 by leaving my bag on the chair. when i came back, someone had already moved it and sat there like it was nothing. i didn’t make a scene. i just picked up my bag and walked away. then a student who was about to leave offered me his spot - a way nicer seat with a plug and more space. that’s when it hit me: sometimes the place you think you deserve isn’t actually the one meant for you. losing it is just the first step to being guided somewhere better.

I voted against this. I simply don't think every single public school kid needs free meals. My family is well-off enough to pay for our daughter's food. I don't want taxpayers covering it. That's an utter waste.
I know the argument is that it reduces stigma for poor kids who do need free lunch. That's just total bullshit. I'm sorry, but kids are still going to know who is relatively richer than others even if everyone gets free lunch. It's a total misuse of taxpayer dollars & doesn't actually help poor people.
