Handling the case from arraignment to ruling/judgement gave me ample time to appreciate our laws and it's application, the experience is tangible, criminal litigation looks more appealing to me, another outstanding judgement to my credit this year on criminal trials.

Litigants might not understand, but lawyers should, I feel being a lawyer is a thankless job irrespective of the pay.
That lawyer sleeping might have had a very busy previous day, go home to read all night to prepare for that case rather than writing an adjustment letter.

Lawyers that sleep in court, just stop it. Today in court, someone in the gallery wrote “please wake up” on a sheet of paper, folded it, and started passing it through people until it kept moving hand to hand all the way to the bar where his lawyer was seated in front, asleep. His case was coming up next. The most embarrassing part is that they actually delivered it to him.
