Sooooo check this out! Of our Archer Hay books we’ve published. Our 7th book was released on the 7th month, and on the 7th day! 7-7-7! Do we get to make a wish?

@TeaWriteRepeat Same. Never finished one in my life. It’s like the “fish” of alcohol...people say, “taste it-this one isn’t strong, it’s more fruity blah blah blah” but it always tastes super beery and gross to me. Hard pass.

@AngelaInGeneral Post comments on their social media accounts saying, “Hey! You forgot to clean up the kitchen!” or on their friends’ accts saying, “Tell Jack to clean the kitchen lol!” Leave memes like this👇🏼. They’ll do just about anything to evade your humiliation and misguided humor.

How do you get kids - TEENAGERS - to clean up after themselves in the kitchen?

My neighbor across the street has the most kickass fatboy I have ever seen, ever. I also dig his 4x4 1998 Ford Ranger truck with the lift kit.

@WritesJodi Whether it’s getting to the bottom of a mystery or the bottom of a liquor glass, these day-drinkers will look for “proof” in more ways than one!

@SoCal_Chemistry One of our humorous mystery series is set in a Dive Bar. So, many of the characters are high-functioning day-drinkers (with past OWIs, family issues, etc to go with it). The books are funny, but the characters are very realistic.

A question for the #WritingCommunity. Do any of your fictional characters drink alcohol (beer, wine, vodka, etc.)? And if so, do any of them have an addiction?

@ASHnovelist ...because it sounds like your ideal reader might be different than the typical mainstream epic fantasy reader. I think you’ll build a strong following if you can identify and capitalize on those differences.

@ASHnovelist Market to them...because hopefully the “target reader” you create in your mind is an accurate representation of the real readers you are trying to reach. Where do they find books? How do they use social media, etc. Customize your marketing accordingly.

@jjulienauthor Yes—many: a gay (and black) business owner, a group of civic-minded drag queens, a gay news anchor (and his love interest), a married lesbian couple...all are positively portrayed in prominant roles.

@ASHnovelist Have you tried to visualize that as an actual person? For example, I think my typical reader is a middle-aged “wine mom” who sells “Live Laugh Love” signs on FB Marketplace and thinks she’s too busy to read “real books,” but it helps keep her mind off her son who is in the Navy.

@ASHnovelist Too much worldbuilding. I'm sure a lot of thought has gone into the distinct political hierarchy and caste system, but if your first fifty pages is just explaining it, I lose interest. Also too many made up words and names.

@ASHnovelist For me, it’s simply a matter of taste. I like to read non-fiction, tru-crime, memoirs, etc. which is to say, I probably prefer stories with more “tell” and less “show.” What characteristics do you believe your typical or target reader would have? Just curious.

@beth_phelan @MattLavPoems I think you would be completely justified in filing a complaint against her lawyer with the MN Office of Lawyers Professional Responsibility. It is patently unethical for him to threaten to sue someone for a claim he knows—or should know—is frivolous and without merit.

@DzintraSullivan I’d like to think I’d run but I have done things under the spell of “being in love” that I shocked myself by doing. Things I looks back on with total contempt...so it’s easy to say—“Fuck that! I’d run!” But when you are in the thick of it....🤷🏻‍♀️
