Nelson Quinones is released by Houston. Sad, but necessary.
The injury sustained by Quinones prior to the 2024 season is one he still hasn’t recovered from.
Wish you nothing but the best, Q. Always a Dynamo. 🧡

TONIGHT'S XI 🤘 @verizon
English

@schaefkl I’ll go 1-2 L.
Portland are always tough opponents despite their slow start to the season. Not to mention Dynamo will be without their central CB and captain, and Bouzat. Will be stretched very thin tonight. A tie would be a great result
English

@KeepingTabsPod 2 - 1 Dynamo. Goal scorers Guilherme and Herrera.
English

@chesegovia Fair argument. Especially considering they really were not too far away in transfer fee, with Cubo being reported at around $5m with Ponce being reported around $7.5m
English

@KeepingTabsPod Kinda of crazy how people jump Ponce when in 1 and half seasons with Dynamo he's scored 16 MLS goals with no true distributors or playmakers behind him. Cubo had Quioto and Elis and thats what finally helped him score those 14 goals, but prior 2 seasons 0 goals, crazy.
English

Erick Cubo Torres - From Zero to Hero
Dynamo acquired Cubo in 2015 from Chivas USA as a DP. It took an astounding 2(!) seasons to net his first goal.
Revitalized under William Cabrera, Houston took the victory in their first game of 2017 against Seattle Sounders, with the Mexican striker scoring his first goal in over 2 seasons, and his first in Orange.
I’ll never forget that wave of relief that flooded through Torres after the goal; it was palpable through the TV. Cubo went on to finish the season with 14 goals, his career best. A like able story.
What are your thoughts on Cubo’s time in Houston?

I would honestly be fine with this move if he was not a U22. At that point, it honestly makes more sense to throw weisner in the fire and see what he can do than sign a guy that we know is ineffective to a u22 contract that we sold last year. Jsut highlights my argument that there really is no direction here with the club. It’s just an emergency bandaid.
English

@KeepingTabsPod @Yancarlos275692 Ok, so he can be u22 until the end of the year in which he turns 25. Also, I believe the club can buy down his contract relatively easily.
Him being on an u22 deal is a little weird I’ll be completely honest.
English

ITS MOVES LIKE THESE THAT SHOW THERE IS REALLY NO PLAN. SELLING DORSEY LAST MINUTE, RESIGNING ALIYU AS A U22, TELL ME WHAT IS GOING ON. TELL ME THERE IS A PLAN.
SINCE 2022 THERE HAS NEVER BEEN A CLEAR MOTIVE. FOR ONCE, THERE WAS AN INKLING OF HOPE AFTER THIS OFFSEASON. JUST WHY
Tom Bogert@tombogert
Sources: The Houston Dynamo are acquiring Ibrahim Aliyu in a trade with the Columbus Crew. Dynamo sends $250k GAM + $500k GAM add ons, per sources. Aliyu was traded from Houston to Columbus last year… now back with Dynamo as wingback Houston expecting to add another wingback
English

@Yancarlos275692 @JpHouSports He was a u22 with Columbus
English

@KeepingTabsPod @JpHouSports He is 24 im pretty sure columbus didint have him as a u 22 as well plus if the signing wasnt so much money spend as a right wingback which is a great position for him he already demonstrated his last couple of weeks or months in houston it could be a good resigning
