A lot of people will call Ruben Amorim's first year at Manchester United a 'disaster' solely based on the results. They are entitled to that opinion.
I like to look at the bigger picture. We are beginning to see the positives of some difficult decisions Amorim had to make, in spite of poor team performance at first.
The first one that comes to mind is the cultural reset. Amorim sacrificed results by gradually remove players that he felt were damaging to the dressing room long term. Even leaving us short in certain positions. He felt this would benefit Manchester United long term, putting his job at risk to successfully execute those changes.
You're now seeing the positives of that. Despite inheriting a damaged dressing room, he now has a group that are together, that are fighting with him until the end. Pre-season helped create that 'family' atmosphere and I think that has been clear to see for all. The overall mood is great.
The club has also found solutions in the transfer market with players who we felt as a fanbase would be difficult to move on with high wages.
The next was his decision to stick with the 3-4-3 formation instead of reverting to a 4-back that many fans/pundits demanded. By sticking through the tough times and the formation, Amorim's system has evolved like he promised since the start with tweaks that are now being implemented. This will continue.
Players are now understanding their roles better, which has allowed Amorim to make those changes. Quality players have replaced those that simply weren't at the standard for the club itself.
Manchester United are now 5 Premier League games unbeaten, level on points with the Champions League places at 5th, and just 2 points away from 3rd. No fixture is 'easy' in the Premier League, but the next 10 are definitely favourable.
Ruben Amorim has probably overcome the most difficult period that he will face as manager of Manchester United, and the correct pieces have been put in place to aim to create long-term success. This needs to continue.

On this day last year, Manchester United appointed Ruben Amorim. It’s taken some time, but is he finally turning The Red Devils into genuine title contenders again? 👀

🚨 JUST IN: Jason Wilcox has held discussions with Ruben Amorim on the formation.
Amorim has said his system will evolve over time, when he is ready, and he has laid out his team in a 4-3-3 for parts of some sessions, but this is mainly to embed understanding for certain phases of play during matches.
