@ddub_news Is there some form of summary of where all the supermarket revenue goes? For every $100 handed over at the till what is the breakdown (through the whole supply chain) Tax (I know ~$33) Wages (under $70K/y) Salaries (over $70K/y) Electricity Fuel Interest Offshore payments Etc

As the fuel crisis deepens, there is lots of talk about Work From Home but not much about the fact that employer reimbursement for use of public transport has been exempt from Fringe Benefit Tax since April 2023.

For this cost of driving crisis, in my humble view, the rules could easily be extended to reimbursement for the regular commute for anyone earning less that $55/h.
The IRD could also quickly update the the existing safe harbour recommended millage rate.

The United States cannot compete with China on human labor alone because of China’s fourfold population advantage and an industrial capacity that is already three times larger. Elon Musk sees humanoid robots like Optimus as a recursive force that can solve this by manufacturing more units of themselves, potentially expanding the economy by 100,000 times. This requires designing every component from physics first principles, especially the robot's hand, which is more complex to build than all other hardware parts combined. Moving toward a pure AI and robotics corporate model is likely the only path to maintaining industrial relevance in a global market.
