Being an engineer, I am paranoid about data surveillance. We don't use voice control for anything, don't use Alexa, etc. So, last week, I was reminiscing about my childhood and started to sing the chorus to "Waltzing Matilda". The next day, Johnny Cash singing "Waltzing Matilda" showed up on my youtube recommendations. I didn't look up the lyrics, and I haven't listened to Johnny in years, but there it was. Hmmm...

It's kind of freaky when my wife and I have a conversation, and we immediately begin seeing online ads for precisely what we were discussing. Me thinks that some of our technologies might be surveillance devices.
