Even for just a moment, this is what it feels like when we all want the same thing.
We spend so much time tearing each other apart. Finding every difference. Every reason to divide. And then NASA launches a spacecraft called Orion toward the moon on a mission called Artemis and something shifts.
Boeing. Lockheed Martin. Competing giants building the same dream together. And next mission, SpaceX joins the story with the lunar module that lands on the moon.
And the mythology is beautiful. Orion is a constellation in the night sky. Artemis was the goddess of the moon. Her brother Apollo was the sun.
NASA didn’t just name these missions. They named them vision. A vision so big it swallows our divisions whole.
That’s what a greater purpose does. It doesn’t erase our differences. It makes them irrelevant.
Look up. Same sky. Same moon. Same dream.
Godspeed to the crew of Artemis 2 and to all of us watching from below.

🎙️ Get Ready: This One Hits Different.
Tomorrow, a brand-new episode of the Wired Educator Podcast (Episode 261) drops, and I’m just going to say it: this is one of my favorite conversations I’ve ever recorded.
I sat down with Casey Cuney California teacher of the yearto dive into the intersection of Rigor, Relevance, and the Age of AI. But this wasn't just a technical "how-to" session. This conversation went crazy deep. It’s personal, it’s impactful, and it challenges the very core of why we do what we do in the classroom. If you’ve been feeling the weight of how quickly education is changing, this episode is the anchor you’ve been looking for.
Why you can't miss this:
* Beyond the Bot: We move past the AI hype to look at what "relevance" actually means for students today.
* Deeply Personal: Casey shares insights that are as vulnerable as they are visionary.
* The Rigor Shift: How we maintain high standards while embracing new cognitive tools.
Trust me, you’ll want to subscribe now so you don't miss the notification when it goes live.
Buckle up. This is a big one. 🚀

This week I had the best time at Gibsonburg Elementary’s Literacy Night!
I got to read Unthink Before Bed to a gym full of kids who were completely into it.
Sleeping bags on the floor, camp chairs, fake campfire, pine trees, a “Read S’more Under the Stars” banner the teachers hand-painted. These educators went ALL OUT. Seriously. The details were incredible.
We had a blast. I walked the kids through a little slide deck of books I loved as a kid and talked about why reading matters. Jedi showed off some tricks and was a total hit (no surprise there). I did a live drawing on the iPad and the kids were locked in watching it come to life. And I may have given them a little sneak peek at my upcoming book. 😉
After the program we signed books together and got to meet so many great families.
These teachers work so hard. They built an experience. A memory. And these kids got to be part of it. And I applaud teachers everywhere, and the parents, family members, and guardians who encourage reading at home. It is so important. Surround your kids with books, paper, pens, and pencils. It matters more than you know.
Lucky kids. Honestly? Lucky me.
Thanks Gibsonburg for having us. Nights like this are why I do what I do. 📚🐾

Today is the day, my friends and colleagues.
Episode 260 of the Wired Educator Podcast drops later today, and I had the honor of sitting down with Mark Bagley, superintendent at Van Wert Schools in Ohio, to talk about leading with heart, hustle, and pride.
We discuss servant leadership, E + R = O, his gold standards for leading, and a unique CEO program for students in his district… and so much more!
One line that stayed with me:
“Relationships without rules equals rebellion. Today’s kid isn’t buying it… they want to know why. They want to know you care.” — Mark Bagley
It’s my privilege to share and celebrate the great work Mark is doing.

(Sound on.) Are you measuring students’ deficits or their potential?
That question sits at the heart of one of the most powerful leadership conversations I’ve had on the Wired Educator Podcast.

“If you could have dinner with five living people, who would you invite and why?”
Here’s a fun question that leads to some surprisingly great conversations.
You can do this with your family.
You can do it with coworkers sitting around the lunch table.
It’s also perfect when you’re driving somewhere with someone… maybe on the way to the airport or a long road trip.
Everyone takes a turn.
You have to name your five people and explain why each one earned a seat at your table.
What makes it interesting isn’t really the names. It’s the reasons.
You start to learn what people admire.
What they’re curious about.
The kinds of conversations they wish they could have.
Sometimes the answers are predictable.
Sometimes they completely surprise you.
I have my five.
Every once in a while I change one depending on what I’m thinking about or learning at the time.
I’ll share mine down in the comments.
Now I’m curious…
If you could have dinner with five living people, who would you invite and why?
And yes… they have to be alive.
