Thank you to the @Panthers for putting on such a wonderful event. It's an honor to represent such a great community, school and team. I can't wait to see this team compete at Bank of America stadium on Aug. 29th #STB

ILMS girls soccer finishes the regular season with a 9-3 record (best record in recent memory) and second in the conference, while the boys finish with 1 loss and a first place finish. Playoffs Thursday for both teams. @AndrewChodes_

If you are looking around & second guessing schools that are closed in the Carolinas, I will leave you w/my guiding principle as a public school official: I would rather apologize for inconveniencing you w/a closure than deeply apologizing for your child getting hurt at school.

An overlooked component of leadership is good communication. In it's absence it is human nature to assume the worst outcome. Understanding that aspect of human nature is vital for any organization's communication strategy, and the cornerstone of building a positive culture.

Great school leadership isn’t loud; it’s consistent. Clear expectations. Calm communication and follow-through every single time. That’s what builds trust with staff, students, and families.

Indian Land has won its appeal, 5-3, today before 4A classification. Indian Land will be in Region 3-4A with Catawba Ridge, Clover, Lake Wylie, Legion Collegiate (no football), Nation Ford, South Pointe, York.

@AndrewChodes_ I think the trouble with Harrisburg is that tiny corner by Fort Mill in which it is located is going to likely draw as many FM parents as it does Indian land parents. Very difficult to get to for the majority of the community.

@KenBuckSC They already have a classroom problem. And people keep moving there and kids keep enrolling. Harrisburg will become 9-12 in the next three years.

Have a story coming out in a few minutes. I live in Indian Land, I cover Indian Land, I've seen the congestion... they will be one of the biggest 5A schools in a few years. Yes, the transportation crisis and staggered schedules is an effective argument. Still, I am stunned.
Ian Guerin@iguerin

This appeal from Indian Land is fascinating. How its school district has to structure busing and start ILHS later in the day because of congestion is maybe the most original argument I've heard in all of the appeals.

@LouatTheState I’m not sure if I ever recall them being big 16. I could be wrong. I definitely remember them being 4A.

Marlboro County "There is not much else ... except from school district." Also said lost 100 students in a year. Did point out decline, was once a Big 16 school

Spent 75 minutes of this morning’s SCHSL appeals with an AirPod in and my head stuffed under a sink replacing a busted pipe coupling/cleaning up the aftermath. Gotta say, having the appeals in my ear was my HS Sports Nerd version of Whistle While You Work.

@iguerin I wasn’t really directing my comments to you, but rather to the other person who was asking if that was the only determining factor.

Which is why I pointed that out and even applauded Indian Land's argument.
Ken Buck@KenBuckSC

@iguerin I understand that. But that’s also a factor when you also considered the transportation issues.

@iguerin What is their argument for how this is a reason to get into a lower classification? Does it have to do with a number of students not being able to play because of busing? What am I missing?

@CoachGStories @iguerin According to the enrollment numbers published by the high school league, Indian land has fewer students than the two top teams in 4A.
