@thearsfamily97 I think its more down to the player profiles that Gyok plays with. At Sporting and Sweden the wide players create for Gyok-they constantly try to find him. At AFC the wide players want to score all by themselves. I don't know if this is by design or not.

I'm not a fan of blaming solely Arteta, or solely his teammates, or solely Gyokeres. Has Arteta chosen some weird attacking combinations (Martinelli-Gyokeres-Madueke) that don't play to Gyokeres' strengths? Yes. But we've actually been pretty direct this season statistically, so he's trying. As for Gyokeres and his teammates, both can do better, and both have done better as the season has gone on. Anyone telling you otherwise is lying. The synergy is still nowhere near an optimal level, though. It's not just Gyokeres. Eze has also been inconsistent. Madueke too. It's no surprise that our three new direct players took some time to gel with a system that is naturally more methodical over the years. Regardless, all three have gotten better as the season has gone on, and all three are still not functioning at their optimal levels relative to the rest of the team.
Kenzy@McHighbury

Viktor Gyokeres scored a great hatrick for his country tonight and it’s triggered lots of comments on here that Arteta’s tactics are a “problem” and we’re not playing to Gyokeres’s strengths. Haaland has 22 goals and his team are 9 points adrift in 2nd place. Gyokeres has 10 and we’re top the league. I don’t see where the “problem” is.

Important: a big chunk of Qatari gas output and LNG train expansion was designed to feed European demand. There was a big investment programme to increase LNG supply by more than 50% by 2027. Not coincidentally, this was the date that Europe was going to ban completely the purchase of Russian gas. In other words, the Iranians are smashing Europe's entire energy plan, such as it was. The big question now is will Putin stick to form and provide Europe with the energy it needs to stave off economic disaster, or will he finally twist the knife by banning sales to Europe in anticipation of the EU ban in 2027? This is the gamble European leaders are now making. Relying on the Russians to play nice after everything. Breathtaking incompetence.

@McHighbury Yes, he is good, but he might be over hyped because I think if he was a massive talent, he wouldn't have gone on loan in the 1st place-forced his way into Arsenal team. I was expecting him to do the same at Mersaille.

Ethan keeping the bench warm again last night in Marseille. If there isn’t a ‘get him home’ clause in the loan agreement based on a lack of minutes, there should have been.

I know Arteta will still do whatever he wants, but I still wanted to add a solution to the build up issue that occurs when Ødegaard is unavailable. Usually, we have 5 or 6 players in build up that are super comfortable on the ball: Ødegaard Saliba Raya Calafiori Timber Zubimendi Only the first 4 are high-tier progressors. Timber and Zubimendi are mostly great at retaining possession and simple progression (which isn't a bad thing and has it's own usefulness), but the others can do that AND progress effectively. To be comfortable in build up, Arsenal need to have at least 3 of the top 4 on the pitch. So with Ødegaard not around, we should start Calafiori, Saliba, and Raya as much as possible from now till the end of the season. The problem, though, is that Calafiori has also been injured a lot in the second half of this season. OR... Just play Nørgaard, whose progression, while not elite, is very underrated.

Arsenal’s Right wing position is as open as ever. It’s up for grabs as it has been all season. I won’t be surprised if Madueke or Dowman end-ups grabbing it.

A 1st time ball out to Saka paired with an underlap from Zubi opens up two great attacking avenues: 1 - Saka to cut in 2 - Saka to play it through to Zubi on the underlap Zubi chooses to play it to our CB under no pressure at all to do so

Kvaratskhelia is definitely attainable, it’s up to Arsenal to decide how hard they want to push for him. Arsenal are a bigger club historically and a more attractive destination than PSG. They’re currently the best team in the Premier League and in Europe, competing for the quadruple with a realistic chance of winning the Premier League and UCL. The idea of playing for Arsenal in this moment would definitely turn Kvara’s head. The real question is whether Arsenal are prepared to spend around £100m to make it happen.

@KenObech The issue is Arteta is a big fan of Gordon, and he seems the easiest to negotiate rn. Already based on England, too. The price is ridiculous. No way in Hell Berta is paying 85m for him.

I hate having to do this about a player who got dealt a bad hand by injuries, but it needs to be said. Remember when G.Jesus fanboys said he was fine post-injury? When they told you he'd soon regain his lost physicality? Remember when people told you "Gyökeres will be relegated to starting FA Cup small games when Havertz and G.Jesus return"? I told you from Day One: the striker position is between Gyökeres and Havertz. I like G.Jesus the man, seems like a great dude. As a player, he is not at the physical level of our two main strikers. Know this and know peace.

@KenObech @FootballEra_ Tbh I see rice and Tonali playing more, Zubimendi would be coming in some games. I don’t think you’d have Tonali on the bench, he’s a top pl midfielder. It is Zubi I worry for.

Arsenal will sign Tonali because of “legs” and “work rate,” then three months later people will start complaining about the lack of progressive, line-breaking passes in midfield, slow buildup, and poor press resistance in the first phase. If you already have Declan Rice and Zubimendi, you should be leaning toward a specialist, not another generalist midfielder. Adam Wharton is literally the most progressive passer in the Premier League right now and among the best in the world in that category, exactly the profile Arsenal are lacking, and he’s only 22. You could have a Trent-type game-breaking passer from deep for the next decade, but instead you’d rather sign more workhorses.

I love Bukayo Saka, but it’s okay to admit he’s declined a bit since that injury, Arsenal fans need to drop the insecurities around that conversation. There’s been a noticeable drop in his physical sharpness, decision-making, finishing, and overall output efficiency, all areas that used to be his biggest strengths before the hamstring injury. His ball retention and all-round play are still elite, though, which is why his underlying metrics still look very strong.

We'll be fine with any of the three. Anderson is obviously the best but I highly doubt Berteta is spending 100m on a midfielder this summer. Wharton is the next costliest and easily the one with the most 'magic' to make us progress faster but also the most glaring weaknesses. Tonali is a generalist, probably the cheapest, and is like a lesser version of Anderson, but still very good/reliable. If I had to put my money to predict, I'd say Berteta will sign Tonali because he'll likely be the cheapest (Newcastle aren't making the UCL, so they don't have that much of bargaining power).
GOONER DAVID@dejesusofficia

Really confused, man. Should we get him,Tonali or Elliot Anderson?
