A Lytham man has been fined £110 for shooting and eating a swan. The judge almost accepted his mitigation claim that he shot it by accident and only ate it so it wasn't a senseless waste, but decided to prosecute when the man casually added that it "tasted like golden eagle".

Many of our staff/volunteers don't get to spend Christmas Day with their families and friends - they're too busy saving lives and making sure the rest of us can have a wonderful Christmas. Today, we wish them and all our communities across the North West, a very merry Christmas.
