My name is Hlengiwe, and I am born of the resilient people of Nquthu in KwaZulu-Natal, where, on 22 January 1879, our ancestors valiantly fought in the Battle of Isandlwana. I am a product of the impi yaseShiyane, the warriors of Rorke's Drift. My heritage intertwines with the historic Battle of Blood River: Impi yaseNcome, where the river bore witness to the indomitable spirit of our ancestors, painting its waters red with their courageous blood. I am a product of the liberation struggle, with roots deeply embedded in the student and youth movements. I carry the spirit of a warrior within me, descended from ancestors who embody the essence of liberation. As I exercise my democratic right, I am reminded of the arduous journey that secured the freedom we cherish today. Our democratic gains were hard-won, and it is our duty to continue defending these achievements. We must pass the baton to future generations, ensuring they too can fulfill their generational mission. I vote ANC
