Health insurance is a total scam.
I remember paying $200 out of pocket for a CT scan. Later, I was mistakenly sent a bill for $1500. It’s what I would have been charged if I’d had insurance.
With the help of a friend with great insurance, we looked up how much their insurance would’ve covered.
With one of the best insurance plans, you’d have to pay $300 for the CT scan—more than the $200 I paid WITHOUT insurance.
Looking at the $1500 bill you think insurance saved you $1200. But you got shanked for at least another $100, in addition to the many hundreds charged every month.
And if like most Americans, your insurance had a deductible, you’d likely have to pay the full inflated 1500 bill on top of your monthly “premium”!
Again, the alternative is simply paying $200 out of pocket.
Stop paying insurance, save what you can, try to live a healthy lifestyle, and if you must see a doc, pay out of pocket.
