My life feels like it is falling apart right now, but there is still meaning, reflection, and hope within these storms of life! From my heart, I felt like I needed to make this reel. Like most autistic people, I would explode if I kept bottling up this pain. It is also a call-to-action: * I plead with ableist neurotypicals to STOP treating us like garbage. * I plead with ignorant neurotypicals to become better aware of us and to stop giving us weird looks, even though you don't mean any harm. Say hi if you can! * I plead with the neurodivergent community (frankly everyone, actually) to BELIEVE IN THEMSELVES and push through the storms of life. I've just been going through a lot of stress and turmoil recently. What's making it worse is seeing almost every video I post (big and small) not getting anywhere. Furthermore, my books aren't selling unless I spend a ton of money on PR/ads, which I have in the past (tens of thousands of dollars, actually, mostly down the drain). I simply want to help people, and I can't seem to do that. If people are still ableists online and in my own communities, then I'm a failure. Part of it is because of the social media algorithms, so please, if you're reading this, I beg you to share my videos on all platforms you have. Regardless of whether or not you take the time, I will never stop fighting, working day and night (literally), advocating and posting videos on top of my day job substitute teaching and afternoon tutoring. Quick clarification: the other day, when groups of people passively harassed me, I meant at least 5 or 6 different groups of 2-3 people I passed by within a three-hour walk around Costa Mesa & Newport Beach (not one big group all at once). Sometimes, it's just 1 or 2 groups, but you know? It's been piling every week and now every day. I cannot understand it. Even people who would say hi to me in the past are now speeding past me, either ignoring me or sarcastically yelling my name. What did I do that was so wrong? I will say one thing: that night, I ran into a student at NHHS who actually said hi and reminded me that I'm worth something. Totally changed my mood, and see? That's all it takes. Everyone, please do that too instead of ignoring people. 💬 Have you ever gone through a season where everything felt like it was falling apart? Let us know how you coped with it in the comments below 👇 Not that I care as much, but I've also been selling products with encouraging/motivating quotes, which haven't been selling either. (All proceeds would have helped spread my message.) Feel free to follow for Autism Awareness content. NEW VIDEO: Why Autistic People Experience Sensory Overload, Masking, and Burnout youtu.be/5ZFAg2KcToc In this video, I explain why sensory overload, masking, and burnout are so common for autistic people, and what's actually going on inside our brains. I also explain why routines and special interests are helpful for us. This video is about understanding the cause, and not blaming the person. Also, it serves to help others recognize burnout as a signal, not a failure. 💬 Which part of this experience resonates with you the most?
