@Pray4TheBatman@YorchTorchGames@The_MOE_Dome@khaliltooshort Aye i agree!
I do hope they see it that way and keeps the formula but i am more suspicious now than i was for the first game and how unapologetic the trailer and kim was.
Lets see, we will be able to see more in the future and bulld our opinions then.
@Kentoraia@YorchTorchGames@The_MOE_Dome@khaliltooshort >Or being against censorship
There is no way to spin a petition calling for something to be removed as a suggestion.
>Do you think a big company with investors who argues to reach a wider audience really wants more sexualization
The first game worked out really well...
Bro went so far right that's he's now on the left championing censorship
Just the far right version of the thing they claim to hate so much
When people show you who they are, believe them the first time
@FullMetalPicnic@Nerderaid@GriftGod_ Aye i agree. Lets see how this plays out! We will be able to build a more comprehensive take on this when we have more information in the future.
You're comparing a singular trailer versus a LOT of Eve exposure. We don't have a lot of comparison just yet between the two. I haven't personally seen anyone claim a desire for a wider audience. However, even if that was mentioned, that could also be attributed to ShiftUp going solo instead of being weighed down by Sony's censorious hectoring, which would actually lead to a wider audience embracing the game, not necessarily a Modern Audience ruining it.
@FullMetalPicnic@GriftGod_ Im not so sure it is tho. It seems to me that Kim being a CEO and an art director may have conflicting interests, especially when he talks about reaching a "wider audience".
I think shift up is already compromised in their character designs and art direction because of this.
But that's the issue. To me she looks perfectly feminine. To you she doesn't. So who is the deciding factor? Fundamentally it'll come down to sales. I would like for that to be the case. However, given the vehemency with which the community is divided my concern is that we'll never get the artist/developer vision of Evie that THEY want to grant us, but a watered down version to cater to one side of the other.
It seems that the freedom of the creator is completely beholden to the whims of the audience, even before a single dollar has been spent. That's a terrible precedent that has to cause strain in the creative process. It's especially egregious when it's based solely on. "I don't like her look," and little else.
@Nerderaid@FullMetalPicnic@GriftGod_ That is AI and not as she is being portrayed in the trailer.
Alot less focus on sex apoeal in the trailer now compared to the first game and i figure that the next trailer will also be more safe.
Someone who says they want to reach a "wider audience" rarely wants more sexiness.
@Pray4TheBatman@YorchTorchGames@The_MOE_Dome@khaliltooshort Or being against cenorship in the game itself depending how you interpret the design choice.
Do you think a big company with investors who argues to reach a wider audience really wants more sexualization and unapologeticness and risks accompanying with that?
Kim is a CEO
@C3narian@Pray4TheBatman@YorchTorchGames@The_MOE_Dome@khaliltooshort You have not read it then, they dont want a childlike character and wants her to be portrayed more feminine and curvy so there wont be a misunderstanding if the sex appeal increses in the design choices.
If the character is not changed, then they dont want the sexy outfits.
@FullMetalPicnic@GriftGod_ Hope the noice made some tractions for a bit of a design change to look more feminine and that would probably tilt everyone towards the same boat again in this matter and having a new protagonist is not wrong and i would be onboard if the protagonist was made in the same formula.
Is a pattern a singular character? We went from Eve, tall, statuesque bombastic form. To smaller, compact shapely. She has the same build as my little sister, but with more pronounced curvature. She's still very beautiful, still very feminine, but she's different.
This is coming from someone who tolerates no woke crap an ideology and loathes feminism with a violent fervor. Evie existing isn't a pattern. In the next game if we see an even younger woman with no curves I'll rush right back to you and go.
"Okay man you might be onto something,"
However, as it stands it seems we're getting female body type diversity in the right direction instead of the broad shouldered, trans-jawed, boxed shaped freaks given to us by Western developers. Evie represents the Leon and Claire of the world, another character, a fresh new take in a familiar world. Eve was the Chris/Jill. Let ShiftUp Cook.
@FullMetalPicnic@GriftGod_ Yep, but her appearance still is a let down and will probably cause alot of problems.
They went with Tifa but not with the proportions and that will make her less of a legend as she could have been. Kim seems to think that her personality will carry her like RE characters do.
@kisaragi9a If only she looked like this in the game. Hope they give her more profound feminine curves and appearance than she currently has, just like in the fanart.
@VonLewis1234@GriftGod_ Lets hope this is the case and i am wrong in my suspicion. But i still want to voice my opinion on the matter, in case they are heading in that direction but choosing not to say it directly.
@FullMetalPicnic@GriftGod_ So my belief isn’t based on him openly saying “we are desexualizing her.” It’s based on what he chose to do (smaller/younger body) + how he talks about it (heavy emphasis on personality over looks).
That pattern is very clear and i hope i am wrong in the end about this.
I'm confused. It's a pretty young girl in skin tight gear, with visible curves, breasts, bottoms, hips. She's not as robust as Evie but she's not a haggard, clothed nightmare like Loofy or whatever her witchy name is. Even the angles of her attacks display her curvature. Do you have a citation from 'Kim' on the reduced sexuality? I haven't seen it and would like to.
@kiritospersona@GriftGod_ They never said "lewder outfits".
He said "appealing" which does not translate to skimpy or lewd but more in line with beautiful or artistic.
Keep in mind that their focus is not on sex appeal but to create a wholesome character. Sex appeal is not the main focus for Evie
@VonLewis1234@GriftGod_ Shift up is pivoting toward a wider audience... that rarely means that they will become more unapologetic and sexualize their characters more. They are trying to go the same route the west and japan game companies has gone and want their game to be not about sex appeal.
@Pray4TheBatman@YorchTorchGames@The_MOE_Dome@khaliltooshort The petition is against shift ups censorship pivot.
They chose a desanitized character design to please a wider audience just as Kim has said.
If you are okay with this, you are okay with shift up going the same direction as western and japanese game industries have gone.
@khaliltooshort Your so engulfed in this that you dont see that shift up censored themselves in order to please a "wider audience".
Im suprised that you accept a desexualized and defeminized character design in order to please and reach a wider audience when you say you are anti censorship...
@CashwayScumbags@Daily_c@ChibiReviews We all know what a focus on a "wider audience" entails and it very rarely means a more unapologetic and more sexualized design and where shift up is moving to safer designs and less sex appeal for a modern audience. That much is certain by what we have seen and heard.
@Kentoraia@Daily_c@ChibiReviews Why are you still posting you downy.
I told you in that other thread you don’t understand the tomboy trope in anime/east-asian fictional media. And she doesn’t look like a boy lmao you’re just a newfag.
IMPORTANT BREAKING NEWS:
Users on ResetEra are now reporting Stellar Blade to Payment Processors like VISA and Mastercard
Reminder this is exactly what Collective Shout did last year with Steam and Itch io. They are trying to get the game deplatformed and censored
@CashwayScumbags@Daily_c@ChibiReviews Desuxalized character and less feminine character trope.
I am against censoring sex appeal and curvy women in video games. She just looks and feels less special and more in line with what kim envisions with a focus on a "wider audience" and safer designs and less sex appeal.
