People confuse “salvation by works” with obedience through faith because many have been taught that any effort to obey equals legalism. But the Bible never says that. Ephesians 2:8–9 says we’re saved by grace through faith, not by works. But Ephesians 2:10 says we’re created in Christ Jesus for good works. And James 2:17 says faith without works is dead. People reject obedience because it requires surrender. It exposes idols. It costs comfort. So instead, they slap the “legalism” label on anything that looks like loyalty, and call it freedom. But real freedom is doing what’s right, not just what’s easy.

Actually, I am rightly dividing. Truth doesn’t expire with a timeline. Ephesians and James both apply after the resurrection, in the New Covenant, to the church. Same gospel. Same Jesus. Same standard. God didn’t call us to confusion, but to obedience through faith. That’s not mixing books, that’s rightly handling the Word.
