If a driver cuts the course on a lap, there is a box in Turn 8 (designated by yellow lines) where they can serve the stop-and-go. Cars will take the turn on the inside. So there wouldn’t be cars in that area.

I was listening to the debate on @SiriusXMNASCAR regarding the qualifying process. I absolutely get that the current way is definitely not ideal, I think there is arguments for many ways to make it better. Random Draw- those words were a definite no for Pete Piston. He said that there should not be anything random in professional sports. It got me thinking, that yes but… @NASCAR has invested a lot in the new points system, why not use this. Make three tiers for qualifying. The first tier, would be the teams that would mathematically be in for the championship run, the second tier would be for the next 13 cars that are in the middle and just outside the cut line. The third tier is for the remaining teams. Let there be a random draw within each tier for qualifying order. To me, we need to recognize the teams that are in championship contention and still reward them. The second tier is for the teams that are having one or two bad races, have found themselves in a pickle but should not be penalized to qualify in the back. The last tier, with being a random draw, could still get a better start than they would currently. This would be another incentive for maximizing points each week and maybe give the teams that have a couple bad finishes a chance to still get a better shot at the qualifying order. To me it all comes down to finishing and stage points, I think those points should factor higher in the qualifying process.
