@CookyTitaCookie Anyway, if it’s a case that PWD needs are perceived or treated as entitlement, then I think there is a problem with the law as well. Because full participation should be guaranteed as human right. And if we’re not on that level, I think there’s a problem with Phil society.

@CookyTitaCookie What does it mean to have barrier-free environment in accordance to the law? If that’s the case.

@CookyTitaCookie I’m just wondering if it’s not a case that the law would supersede a private policy? Or am I misunderstanding what a law is supposed to be? Tbh, it’s the same thing with everything, I think. By practice, it’s often the PWDs who adjust. Just wondering why it shouldn’t be stores.

@Kert89 There's nothing wrong with eating there. What's wrong with them implementing their policy? It's an etiquette thing, and an entitlement thing.

@CookyTitaCookie Oh I’m not referring to that bit. I’m referring to the section on Barrier-Free Environment.

@CookyTitaCookie In terms of accommodations, I think lay people think that PWD needs are mere entitlement. The kid has autism. I can’t speak for all autistics, but my autism comes with sensory sensitivities too. And it’s hell to have those.

@CookyTitaCookie Oh I’m not trying to be antagonistic. Just wondering also what the parameters are. If there is a provision in the law to be provided accessibility, what is then wrong about eating in Starbs, I guess is what I’m wondering as well. (Not a big fan of Starbs, tho, personally)

@Kert89 If it's necessary. Not to change their business model. You could say the mall needs to provide certain locations for accoms....you cant say all restos shd provide space for something in direct contravention to their biz model Whats wrong with going to eat the meal at the resto?

Ofc, I get that this is a serious stereotype. But it’s kinda funny that it occurs more often than not.

Autistics don’t cheat. We literally don’t see other people. In a relationship, you are it. The rest of the population turns into background NPCs. Someone could be walking butt baked in front of us and we’d be like, oh okay, cool, & go about memorizing your coffee order from 2017. I think it’s because we don’t fall in love in the traditional sense. We conduct a full internal audit, compatibility matrix, long term sustainability forecast & emotional risk assessment. And once you pass? That’s it. You are chosen. Completely locked in to a lifetime membership. That’s why people say fumbling an autistic woman or man is the biggest fumble of your life & they’re not exaggerating. You didn’t just lose someone who liked you. You lost someone who studied you, understood you, built a whole internal world around you, and decided (with extreme seriousness) that you were it. We have never been casual about love. If we picked you it was intensely & absurdly deliberate. Everyone else could die in a zombie apocalypse and we’d just… keep being obsessed with you.

@CookyTitaCookie I just checked. Private institutions are also required to provide accessibility to PWDs. They are also bound to modify their policies to accommodate the needs of PWDs.

E-waste reduction in France through banning planned obsolescence and in accordance with the principle of right repair. Good move.
Massimo@Rainmaker1973

France has made planned obsolescence a criminal offense, becoming one of the first countries in the world to treat deliberate product shortening as a serious crime. Manufacturers caught intentionally designing electronics, appliances, or other goods to fail prematurely or become unusable—whether through hardware flaws, software updates that slow performance, or other engineered limitations—now face steep penalties: up to 2 years in prison and fines reaching €300,000, or as high as 5% of their average annual turnover in the most serious cases. This landmark law, building on France’s earlier consumer-protection framework and reinforced by high-profile scandals (such as the 2017–2018 investigations into smartphone “battery-gate” slowdowns), explicitly targets both physical and digital tactics used to push consumers toward frequent replacements. The legislation is more than just punishment—it’s a cornerstone of France’s broader “right to repair” agenda. By criminalizing practices that drive premature disposal, the government aims to: - Slash the massive environmental footprint of electronic waste, - Protect consumers from hidden “forced upgrades,” - Encourage manufacturers to prioritize durability, repairability, and longer-lasting support. France’s tough stance sends a clear message to global tech and appliance companies: the era of disposable-by-design products is ending. By leading the charge on sustainability and consumer rights, the country is helping shift the world toward a more circular economy—one where goods are built to last, repaired when needed, and discarded only when truly necessary.

Worst thing about the mental health industry is how normal grief gets pathologized. A friend’s wife just passed away and he was immediately prescribed psych meds? Of course he’s sad and depressed?? It’s a normal human reaction
