A lot of people don’t seem to appreciate what really just happened: Trump made a threat he could never follow through on without it being a war crime. On the eve of the deadline, he wisely declares a ceasefire - on the basis of having “already met and exceeded all Military objectives” - which to the extent it’s true, was *already* true when he made the threat he could never act upon without it being a war crime. This outcome would have been achieved (or *was already* achieved) when Trump made that Truth post threatening something he could never implement without it being a war crime. It is not a case of “madman theory”. This is not a cease-fire *because* of that post. It was the only way to finesse that blunder of a post into the veneer of a win, by relying on things that if true, were already true at the time he made the post. That is my humble two cents. Eagerly awaiting the vitriol and abuse in the replies 😂

@DataRepublican @SaltyGoat17 I'm sure they don't care so much now that russia isn't the threat they thought. We should have left NATO when the EU started.

🚨🇷🇺Chechen Fighters ‘Ready to Deploy’ to Iran if U.S. Launches Ground Invasion: Reports indicate that Russian Chechen military units have declared their readiness to deploy to Iran in the event of a ground invasion by the United States and Israel. These combat units, loyal to Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov and integrated into Russia's security apparatus, have stated they will intervene only if the current conflict escalates beyond air and missile strikes. Characterizing the potential mission as "jihad," Chechen forces have framed the intervention as a defense of the Islamic Republic against Western aggression. Intelligence suggests these fighters could be stationed at strategic locations, including Kharg Island or coastal sites along the Strait of Hormuz. If Putin approves, Russia could quickly send up to 1,000–5,000 elite rapid-deployment troops to Iran. However, a larger deployment remains unlikely due to logistical challenges and political complications stemming from the ongoing war in Ukraine. Moreover, sending Chechen soldiers to Iran would place them in direct confrontation with elite American Tier-1 special operations units and sustained U.S. air superiority. Who do you think will win that war?

I just got off the phone with someone who works in defense policy in Washington. What they told me should end every "Trump is reckless" argument permanently. "Every single president since Clinton received the same intelligence briefing on Iran's nuclear timeline. Every single one was told the window was closing. Every single one chose to kick it down the road because the political cost of acting was higher than the political cost of waiting." Trump got the same briefing. 60kg of 90% enriched uranium. 4 weeks to breakout. Material for 2 bombs. He chose to act knowing it would tank his approval to 35%. He chose to act knowing his own base would split. He chose to act knowing NATO allies would refuse to help. He chose to act knowing gas prices would spike. A senior analyst I know at a major think tank put it this way: "The difference between Trump and every president before him isn't intelligence. They all had the same data. The difference is courage." Read that again. Every president had the same file on their desk. Only one opened it and did something. I'll keep you updated. Turn on notifications. 🚨

Arrogant people like you prove Trump right. Oh look Europe is finally taking its defense seriously. Didn't worry about it when Russia started putting the USSR back together even after Crimea. Why? Because you relied on the American taxpayers. Trump came in his 1st term and warned you idiots but still nothing. Now only after Trump started putting the EU and NATO on notice did you do something a little but not much. Oh on F 35 having a "kill" switch that could be said of any equipment American, European, Russian and Chinese, really just a stupid argument.

I am not sure the American military establishment has fully grasped what Trump has actually done here. So let me spell it out in language even a Pentagon procurement officer can understand. Europe has been buying American weapons at a staggering rate. In 2024 alone, US foreign military sales notifications to European countries hit $76 billion. Four times the European average since 2008. F-35s, missile systems, air defence, ammunition. All of it American. All of it coming with decades of service contracts, maintenance agreements, spare parts, software updates and training programmes worth hundreds of billions more over their operational lifetimes. Between 2020 and 2024, the United States supplied 64 percent of all European weapons imports. That is now over. Europe has an $860 billion defence plan, and American contractors are being frozen out. The goal is 80 percent of all military purchases from European factories by 2030. Airbus. Rheinmetall. KNDS. Saab. Leonardo. BAE Systems. They are about to receive the largest order book in the history of European defence industry. Because Trump made it politically impossible for any European government to keep writing cheques to Washington. Some European governments have discussed worries that the Pentagon could remotely disable American F-35 fighters or impose restrictions on how US weapons can be used. When your supplier is also threatening to annex your allies, that is not paranoia. That is basic procurement logic. Trump set out to make America great again. He has succeeded magnificently. For Rheinmetall. Gandalv / @Microinteracti1

Trans people deserve to have a life where they feel accepted and valued. That's why days like today — Trans Day of Visibility — are more important than ever. We have a government that wants to hurt the LGBTQ community, and if we don't stand up for our people, they win.

@juhasara64 @Osint613 So you think Trump has something to hide? Again if there was Biden, Comey (who's daughter sat on those files for years), kamala would have used it.

NYT: Russia, China, and France are shutting down an Arab-led effort at the UN Security Council to greenlight military action against Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Diplomats say all three are rejecting any resolution that includes authorization for force.

That is the right solution. There is no point in trying to go to the Strait of Hormuz to target Iranian missiles and drones without proper means to counter them. Iran has enough cheap Shaheds, whose countermeasures would quickly empty NATO's missile stockpiles. Trump poked the beehive and is now begging others help. What a pathetic pair of amateurs this Hegseth and Trump are. But anyway, we still want to see those Epstein files...
