This is obvious to everyone who’s spent even a few days on social media instead of relying on Western news But what’s also apparent and less discussed is the fact that we have fallen behind even other capitalist countries like Japan and South Korea While China has built dozens of new cities from scratch in recent decades, South Korea has also gotten into planned city construction What are we doing? Overcrowding our organic cities and filling them with cheap labour from overseas so boomer landlords can profit while the nation suffocates underneath them 💀

@Elizabe47883246 Not exactly. In most cases in Canada, the landlords themselves don’t actually own the properties. They are essentially middlemen. The finance capitalists own the houses, and the landlords pay a mortgage to them. If we had public housing, those landlords would have to get a job.
