Philly can't be a city of no. We cannot be a world class city, fund our schools, and rebuild our communities by obstructing change and fighting investment. We can't yearn to always be America's poorest big city as a sort of cultural statement. We need to innovate and grow.

@AlonGGur I've been making this point to other mods, sure on round 1 he didn't get a majority, but he needed only a sliver of votes from either Stanford or Street to get there. I would bet that more of Stanford/Street voters go to the other than Rabb, but not 100% of them...

Chris Rabb just won a Dem primary for Congress in PA, even though 53% of Dem voters selected another candidate. He has no opponent in the general election. He's going to DC without having faced a single GOP or independent voter. This is yet another case for ranked choice voting!

I disagree a little here. It's fine to say LGBTQ. I think most folks have accepted that in the lingo, or just w/o the Q. More importantly, though, is that we have to stop changing things, incl. acronyms and flags every 3 years. Impossible to keep up, even in the "in-group".

This is a minor point but maybe this is the right tweet to say it about, because Obama is a skilled former politician. Democrats should stop saying "LGBTQ+". It's terrible politics. It's not how normal people talk. Say "gay and trans people" instead. MAYBE "LGBT" occasionally.

But it's not as simple as "it was a weird time" - it demonstrates bad judgment. Abolish or defund police movements was bad judgment and bad politics then, too. And having bad judgment + power = bad government which is really hard to fix when the weird moment ends.
