€17 BILLION on secret “military hotspots”? The EU wants Parliament to sign off on billions without telling us where the money is going. The lack of transparency is unbelievable. Transport funding should go to our ports, airports and rail, rather than towards militarisation.

Sinn Féin MEPs in Europe have secured support for including PeacePlus funding in the draft EU budget, after it was initially left out of proposals. This European funding, worth over €230 million in the last budget, continues to make a real difference in people’s lives here. It has invested in youth and employment programmes, built community facilities, supported local businesses, and funded many other initiatives. I will continue to work with the Sinn Féin team in the European Parliament, the Assembly, and in the Dáil to protect this vital funding.
