@yunjinrs I'd have to disagree. She's not the first to be so "open" about her feelings in the industry. It's not wrong of course but as you said, it goes against the entire concept of an idol. Has she changed the idol industry? I don't think so

the ideal standard of the kpop industry is to have an idol that represents perfectness, so fans can idolize and worship them. when yunjin said she wants to change the idol industry; she talked about embracing & accepting the imperfections and insecurities of oneself, being a genuine artist, being fearless of vulnerability & having some sort of autonomy over yourself - which are all concept that go against the standard and that’s what drives kpop stans insane. yunjin is someone that isn’t afraid of showing emotions and being vulnerable in public. yunjin is someone that doesn’t fear speaking up about ‘controversial’ topics most idols don’t dare to ever touch on because of the backlash that comes with it. yunjin is someone that isn’t afraid of being honest and showing her real self. yunjin is someone that kpop stans can’t control & that is the pretty much the reason why they scrutinize every little step she does towards that change. the clear truth is that they love to dismiss her impact since her debut just because it’s simply what they DON’T want - they don’t want the reform of the idol industry & yunjin is exactly the person that is getting in their way.

None of what she said is cringy or bad per se, but while the message can be great and meaningful, the vessel counts too. If you write a love letter on a piece of paper that's been shit on and soggy and give it to the person that matters, what do you think they'll see it as?
