We all remember the exact moment when we 1st heard an impactful song on our lives. 40 years ago today, I came home from playing baseball during Spring Break and the dj on B96 premiered Live to Tell by Madonna. I was shocked and blown away. I did question whether or not it would be a hit cause it was such a rapid departure from her other stuff. As a closeted gay kid, the song comforted me. Pop stars just don’t take the risks they used to.

We've had decades of seeking to 'understand' these people. Where has it got us? This whole idea of a 'big conversation' is about normalising the behaviour, about finding the reasons why we should sympathise with it. It's not about stopping it, if indeed we can 'stop it' with people like this. What we need to do is be more appropriately punishing and do everything we can to keep people like this away from the rest of us.

I watched the Huw Edwards docu-drama. I heard he wasn't happy. He got off lightly. This story was primarily centred on him grooming a 17-year-old (and it was grotesque and vile) but this is a man, let us not forget, who is sexually aroused by the rape and torture of small children. That's who Mr. BBC News is. I heard his publicist wants us to have a big conversation about why men like Huw do what they do. No. We are sick of always trying to understand perverts and paedophiles. Humans have been given freewill. If you have bought into the child abuse market you made your choice and I have no sympathy for you. This isn't something we need to understand, it's something that we need to penalise appropriately. Allowing people like Edwards to escape a prison sentence will not protect one child but it always protects the predator. The arrogance that he thinks he should enjoy a return to public life is astonishing. These predators have been getting away with too much for too long that when they get caught they become the victim. If it was up to me I would release people like Edwards into the wild and let nature take its course.

@SoniaPoulton No Sonia we haven't! We've had decades of not wanting to discuss it. Once we learn about it we can try to stop the cycle. Nobody wants to chat to a terrorist but learn about brainwash & u can spot it happening. Don't confuse understanding with sympathy they're not the same

To put this performance into context. Ms. Franklin was 55 years old, a year younger than say Mariah Carey now. Her voice was still full/powerful/dynamic. SHE'S FILLING IN FOR PAVAROTTI. No lip-syncing. When you talk about the greatest vocalists of all time don't play with her.
