The Keystone Take
@KeystoneTake
where policy, politics, and common sense intersect, with a dash of Philly atty-tood. I used to blog. Substack @islandofhope.

guy who is definitely a neutral observer and not a Trump supporter: "Democrats would do a lot better if they never criticized Trump again and threw him parades and agreed with him"

TRUMP in Pennsylvania Sept 2024 on Chinese nationals buying US farmland: You can’t do it. We don’t want you buying our land. We don’t want you taking the land off the market… TRUMP in China 2026 on Chinese nationals buying US farmland: You want to see farm prices drop? Literally on board with all of this but I’m so vehemently against court-packing that I believe this would be a serious net-negative as a whole. How do people not understand what a bad suggestion that is? Please stop advocating it.

Mike Johnson defends egregiously gerrymandered maps like the new one in Tennessee, but then in the very next breath claims the Virginia map that was struck down "was a hastily drawn gerrymander that was unconstitutional"

Trump: "There's no oil coming out of Kharg Island. People are finding other places to buy oil, like Texas. So I don't want to say we're making a fortune, because if I say that, they're gonna say 'he forgets about the little man with the $4 gasoline.'"

But, the outrage over Garland is just fake or blinkered. Schumer would not have moved an R SCOTUS nom in the same situation. It was where we were on judicial nominations, and still are. A place I regret, but this is now just a partisan fight.

Kamala Harris is now calling for Democrats to hold a “No Bad Idea Brainstorm” where they discuss: - Abolishing the Electoral College - Packing the Supreme Court - Making Puerto Rico and D.C. states “We’ve got to neutralize these red states from cheating!”
