@SusanEbbels @SeanPert @RCSLT Lack of funding and capacity are massively driving the reduction in therapy. Not enough investment in SLT Services and SLT pipeline is inadequate. Recruitment is challenging and teams are trying to function with huge waiting lists and not enough staff

@SusanEbbels @RCSLT It really is heartbreaking. The therapy I was able to deliver when I qualified compared to service demands now, is so different. Difficult to consider evidence base when there are no real opportunities to monitor impact or offer enough sessions for full package of care.

@solomon_teach It’s a system-wide failure along with huge numbers of referrals, backlog of appointments and impact of suspension of services following lockdown. Resilience amongst therapists at all time low leading to retention and recruitment issues. SLT is not the career it once was.

Is it just me or does the overall situation in primary schools with occupational and speech therapists seem almost scandalous? Some kids seen only once a term, no institutional idea of what works, no idea of measurable impact, Feels like piñata. Wasting absolutely millions.

So managed to avoid it up to now, but I guess with life and activity normalising, it was maybe inevitable that it was going to happen. Feeling grateful to be fully vaccinated which makes it much more manageable & for having such wonderful support from family & friends 🙏🙏
