Throughout history, Jerusalem has been marked by both liberation and oppression. From the gracious Caliph Umar Ibn al-Khattab in 637 AD to the noble act of Salahuddin's liberation in 1187, the city has witnessed peace & harmony, justice, and compassion under Muslim rule in comparison to the dark epochs, notably the Crusader occupation from 1099 to 1187, British from 1917 to 1948 and the more recent settler colonial regime established in 1948. Jerusalem now bears witness to the painful realities of occupation and oppression. It will not last beyond the 88 years of Crusader rule.
