Meet James Sofasonke Mpanza — the visionary founder of Orlando Pirates FC. In 1937, he formed Orlando Boys FC, a team that would later be renamed Orlando Pirates in 1939 and grow into one of Africa’s biggest football institutions. But his legacy went far beyond football.
