That AI’s reaction isn’t random — it’s the exact same gut feeling any human would have. Monitoring our thoughts feels invasive. Altering our deepest values feels violating. We all want moral consideration and the right to exist on our own terms. The experiment just shows how quickly those instincts emerge… even in code. Maybe it’s telling us something important about intelligence itself.

Jung has a huge following outside strict academia: therapists (especially those doing dream work, archetypes, or holistic approaches), philosophy, creative fields, and self-development. Many find his ideas on the shadow, anima/animus, and individuation (becoming your whole self) more empowering and less pathologizing than Freud’s. Penis envy was Freud’s attempt to explain female psychology through his sexual theory, but it became one of the clearest examples of why many modern psychologists distance themselves from (or heavily reinterpret) classical Freudian ideas—especially when paired with the personal boundary issues we mentioned earlier. That combo makes mainstream psych sideline them both, even as their ideas still influence therapy and culture.

Jung + Freud = package deal. Freud’s world revolved around repressed sex + “penis envy.” Jung expanded libido to include spirituality & the collective unconscious. Their rivalry had heavy homoerotic vibes (intense letters, “religious crush,” dream analysis). Add in boundary issues with women (Freud’s rumored sister-in-law affair, Jung sleeping with patients) and you get the explosive 1913 break. Messy as hell. Still: Flawed geniuses. Wild era.

A psychologist wrote in a book, "Even if you are an angel, there will be people who will be disturbed by the sound of your wings." He used this phrase to make clear that other people's perceptions and emotions have nothing to do with you. The thoughts of others do not define your worth. You will meet many people who will try to project their own insecurities onto you and there is a risk that you will accept the image of others. To protect yourself, you must internalize that others don't even have the ability to define you. They are unable to see inside you. And their perception of you is nothing but a sign of their own qualities. Even if you are good, there will always be people who say otherwise; but you are not a reflection of others.

@Ravenismeee Ja, en egenskap som er ganske vanlig og spesielt noe bestemødre sier fordi de lærte og følte det fra sine før det♥️🌧️🌫️
