One day we will sit down and talk about the silent struggles of the people you see/saw and admire acting in big TV shows. Many have not been able to pay their bills like rent, medical, decent meals etc because the payments are not as good as you all think. THE STRUGGLES ARE REAL and DEPRESSION IS REAL behind those red carpet smiles!
I remember my struggles when I was evicted after failing to pay rent for 6months in Kasubi in 2014😭. The shame when the neighbours said "he has been on TV shows, how can he fail to pay rent?" My landlord had been patient with me for all those months but I failed to raise the money. I almost lost the fight to depression but I am lucky to tell the tale.
I know very many actors in worse positions.
One day we shall overcome.

@bendizhodouglas Haaaaaa!!!! If only they knew!!! If it wasn't for the sake of protecting the image of the Ugandan film industry, many would have seen how your real actors struggle to live.

CENTA PRODUCTION UNVEILS CAST FOR NEW WEB SERIES
A while ago, there was a casting call by Centa Productions @CentaPro_ for different characters in their upcoming new show called 'URBAN SURVIVAL'. There was a lot of anticipation about who would make it through.
This morning, they have released the list of 8 actors who will play the characters. I must say, it's a star-studded cast lineup and I am excited to see what will be served.
I will share details about the show when I get them

2. KAMPALA CREME on @PearlMagicPrime nominated for Best Indigenous M-Net Original

Over the past few years, we have seen and heard of Ugandan filmmakers traveling to near and far destinations. Some have gone for leisure, family visits, or further studies. Others have been hired for film projects abroad. Many have travelled for film festivals funded by local or international bodies such as the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), while others have invested their own resources to pursue opportunities at international film markets, conferences, workshops, pitch forums, and collaborative platforms.
I personally make it a point to celebrate our local and national filmmakers whenever they break through in any way. I believe deeply in the potential of Ugandan storytellers, and I understand the pride and motivation such news ignites, not only in the achievers themselves but also in the dreamers watching from a distance. These milestones inspire, energise, and sometimes even rescue those who are on the verge of giving up.
Around July last year, I shared about @Ayeny T. Steve’s trip to Los Angeles, where he explored iconic Hollywood spaces including Universal Studios Hollywood and attended the @CineGearExpo 2025. When he returned, the villager in me was eager to sit down with him and hear about his cinematic escapades. I found myself listening with the curiosity of members of the Royal Geographical Society receiving reports from 19th-century explorers. Indeed, Ayeny – “The Film Explorer”, was generous in sharing stories from what many consider the promised land of filmmakers: Hollywood.
This week, during a casual scroll on social media (and no, I was not hunting for lugambo), I stumbled upon photos suggesting that Ayeny had stepped into Tyler Perry Studios. Haaaaa! As someone who thrives on positive Ugandan film-related “lugambo,” I immediately reached out for details about the mission. Unfortunately, my messages went unanswered.🥲
Still, my instincts tell me something might be cooking. And if you are thinking what I am thinking, the stars could very well be aligning to deliver one of East Africa’s biggest film headlines. But you see, I am a villager at heart, full of excitement and prone to drawing conclusions long before the official announcement arrives.
In any case, shout-out to all Ugandan filmmakers quietly working on major national and international projects. I know many of you are operating under NDAs and tight lips… but me, Daaga, I will eventually find out officially or unofficially. So you better tell me the news when you still can, I am the one you have!🤣
But ssi rina lugambo.

Congratulations are in order.
@HumNabimanya was elected among the new members of the @TheEmmys International committee. Humphrey joins @LeonardAmanya & @nabwisom who are the other Ugandans already there. We are having more of our own into the rooms and we definitely believe this opens more doors of opportunities to have ourselves exposed.
What a way to close 2025!

Since I posted about the filmmakers who lack integrity, I have been receiving names of people who have not paid others who have worked for them in the film industry. The number is overwhelming. The amount of money producers/directors owe people can fund a drama series. Ssente mpitirivu nnyo🤣
I have also received names of those who have stolen stories or scripts made a few changes without the original owner's consent and then made films/projects. One of those films is one of the highly anticipated ones.😳
As we finish 2025, I want to urge you all to subscribe to respective guilds and let's task them to fight such vices. In the near future we need receipts as proof of claims because we also know that many actors or crew members fail to meet expectations agreed upon with producers and then just come out to speak about failed payments without mentioning that they did crappy work.
