Ervis Doksani, 41, described by a judge as a career criminal, was caught with an arsenal of guns and 10kg of drugs at a flat in Vernon Road, Basford, Nottingham. Officers stopped a Vauxhall Insignia in the car park of a Tesco Extra in Bulwell, Nottingham, in December last year and found a 1kg bag of cannabis inside. Further searches led them to the flat where Doksani was in charge of the deadly haul. When police raided the property, they discovered a revolver hidden in a kitchen cupboard, three rifles, one of them loaded, and multiple 1kg vacuum packed bags of cannabis. Doksani, who has previous convictions in the UK, had sneaked back into the country in the back of a lorry after his previous deportations and had been living here for two years. In interview, Doksani claimed he was in £32,000 debt and was forced into the role. His barrister told the court he believed some of the weapons were imitations or air guns, and that he was trying to pay off debts related to his daughter's illness. At Nottingham Crown Court, Doksani was jailed for seven years and 10 months after admitting a series of serious charges including possession of prohibited firearms, possession with intent to supply drugs, and re-entering the UK in breach of a deportation order. Judge Mark Watson: "You have proven through your previous convictions in this country and through this offending to be what I judge to be a career criminal. A large amount of drugs and weapons were recovered, and this case demonstrates you to be connected to a higher level of organised crime. You are no petty criminal. You were effectively the warehouseman, doing it for significant financial advantage. You are not permitted here, and you are not welcome here."
