I know the Artemis rocket is a cobbled together mess of leftover Shuttle parts and the whole mission profile is iffy, but damn it was good to see NASA laving LEO again.

It’s been interesting watching my peers who grew up expecting the 2020s to be cyberpunk or Mad Mad realize they instead live in a bad D&D game with dark lords that sacrifice kids and make geopolitical decisions based on prophecies.

The commentor clearly meant "reactionary man" as an insult, but in my head I heard it in the voice of Johnny Cash and smiled.

That sickening feeling when your world is ruled by depraved goblins but all the prominent radicals are plants and posers.

The Neverending Story hits a lot harder now than it did when I was a kid.

@badadadading Gibson and Sterling are both in what passes for my workflow plan. Copeland and Stephenson more in the "need to read more" nebulous cloud of intent.

@CliffordBates12 I've been wanting to cover that series for a long time. It's just been so long since I've read it that I need to go through it again. Red Mars in 2026 shouldn't be ruled out.

I wonder if anyone has addressed Kim Stanley Robinson's Mars Trilogy (Red Mars, Green Mars, Blue Mars). Carnes Lord in his 1st edition has a footnote about it. Perhaps @KiltCat would tackle it.

@CrucifiedAgape I read "1945" back when it was fairly new. All I remember is that Skorzeny was in it, it didn't make much of an impression apparently.

@stainle55446702 It takes 10 times longer to watch a whole series when, after 4 episodes of the first season, my wife says "it's not good" and declines to watch any more with me. But the Farscape promise is not forgotten.
