Here’s how it works: • They tell friends or family their version first — usually with half-truths or emotional spin that makes you look reactive.

They control the narrative by selectively feeding information to others while keeping you in the dark.

How would somebody use this to make somebody look psychologically unstable? Control of information: Withholding critical context or updates from the target to ensure they make misinformed statements publicly.

Then when you push back or defend yourself, you look exactly like the unstable person they described. The third party becomes their witness, their reinforcement, and sometimes their flying monkey.

They call it gaslighting by proxy. The manipulator tells a third party their own distorted version first — making you sound erratic, jealous, or irrational.
