Cyanosis does not always present as purplish or bluish on the skin, as most medical textbooks portray! Certain systemic factors can contribute to healthcare disparities that dark-skinned individuals experience. Diagnostic challenges have been a significant concern in medical education, as most materials concentrate on symptoms that present on white skin.  This results in clinicians being less equipped to correctly diagnose and manage conditions like cyanosis in darker-skinned individuals. After recently on-boarding with the @ChildrensAirAmb we had the great pleasure to make our inaugural flights with a delightful little girl, Maya & her mum, Karen. The highlight was when she called the air desk & said “send me my helicopter please!” Photo with parental permission.
