@PLOSONE we have had a paper under review since the end of Nov and have not received a first decision yet despite several contacts with the editorial team. I think it is forever in purgatory...I am not sure what else I can do.

Sharing our new publication showing similar improvements in pediatric cancer survival from 1995-2019 across race/ethnicity and age category. However, there are still marked disparities in survival among minority groups compared to non-Hispanic Whites. sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

New article in the Journal of Pediatrics led by former PhD student Xiaoyan Wang. Even with the same health care access through insurance, we still see disparities in cancer survival by race and ethnicity. sciencedirect.com/science/articl…?

@CIDRAP I wonder if any of this is explained by surveillance bias in covid-19 survivors. Need to read the papers but paired glucose measurements (pre and post covid) in a set of survivors would make me feel less like there is the possibility of artifact.

@nytimes I was absolutely horrified by the framing of the issue on childhood obesity today with “aggressive treatment” starting at age 2. This presentation missed so many important aspects of the problem. Terrible insensitive unnuanced podcast.

@liznorell @nytimes @MaintenancePod @mikiebarb OMG. I am an epidemiologist/scientist and I had such a bad reaction to this podcast. Just terrible information and advocacy for children. I actually swore at my speaker and the woman who was interviewed.

We show in our new publication that across age groups and many brain tumor types long-term survival is superior for patients seen at facilities that see a lot of brain tumor patients. lnkd.in/gRzREUy5

@SimoneStolzoff I only drink 1-2 drinks Sat or Sun (down from everyday 5 years ago) unless its a special occasion. I also keep a consistent morning running schedule of 4 days per week (T Th S Sun) unless I need to get up really early on one of those days, in which case I shift to a day earlier.

👋 I'm writing an article for the NYT about the value of creating personal rules! Little rules like charging your phone outside of the bedroom, seasonal rules like sober January, work rules like not responding to emails after 5pm etc Do you have any such rules? I'd love to chat

So where's the "advantage"? Well, the payers did cut hospital costs. But.. sure doesn't sound like the patients are the ones with an advantage. Main issue proposed by authors: severely restricted access to optimal surgical care (e.g. COC-accredited or NCI-designated centers).

Make sure you avoid these common fashion choices- they will instantly add years to a woman's appearance 🤯
