3 months ago, Austin told me that he wanted a break from adventures. I didn't know why at the time but it turns out it was because someone had made fun of him for being into trains. This broke me tbh 💔 but after lots of deep chats, he's over it & going to ignore them. So.... 1/2

Yesterday nearly broke me but over 10,000 dogs will be operated on now because of the Marathon. Probably a lot more once we plan it all out. That was the hardest day of my life but I just can’t believe what people are like. Can’t walk but also speechless ❤️

Out March 12 Our cat sends me out to 'find' my late son, Eddie. I find him in the scenes of my memories. I come back and tell the cat. The cat tells me what she thinks of Eddie.

I don't know how vulnerable I can be here, but my personal struggles, mental health battles, and daily efforts to hold a candle in an increasingly dark world have left me broken. I believe in my faith, and the beauty of my child, and the redemptive power of art, and I will keep working for a better future for our children, for ourselves. But everyone has their dark night of the soul, and this is mine. I hope my poems and books reach out from that dark and offer you a little light. I hope whatever I write in the future will have learned something even more profound, more joyous, more human from this time in the shadows. I hope my being open about my pain helps you feel less imprisoned in yours. And I hope—despite everything—that the work I do is helping others, somewhere, feel a little less alone.

WOW. A teacher just told me, "I gave one of my 2nd grade (dyslexic) students your nature poetry prompt. He is reluctant to write because of challenges with spelling, but I suspect he’s gifted. I told him just to write and we’d sort out the spelling later. This is what he wrote."

Thread. You guys know we adopt old/sick dogs out here on The Outer Banks, but this man does it on a level that is truly remarkable. I'm asked how you can do it over and over again, and Mr Harbison captures my answer at the end of the thread. You just do it for them. My pain and sadness are secondary. To give them food, love and a seat on the beach until they leave this world is worth it. This guy is on another level and deserves our utmost respect. Finally - if you can, adopt an old, sick dog that nobody wants. We don't know how long we have on earth and I'm telling you it's worth it. God Bless Niall. And God Bless Alba.

This was Alba’s song. I used to play it to her and sing it when out looking at the sunrises and sunsets. I’ve no idea how it happened or where it come from but the best part is when you read the lyrics. I’d love people to play it on full blast and think of her happy wagging tail.
