Today is a milestone birthday for me. Someone asked me what it feels like to turn 50 and if I’m embarrassed to tell people my age. They told me that things will only go downhill from here. I paused for a moment before replying. This is the gist of what I said: “To be honest I don’t mind it. I’ve survived a lot of things in my life and I continue to do so. My health has challenged me and the world has been harsh at times, yet I am grateful to be here. I’m grateful for all of my blessings and for the love I’m surrounded with. Not much will change at 50. There will still be people who like me and people who dislike me. There will still be troubles in the world that hurt my heart. At 50 though I will still be me. I will still do the things I love to do. I will still share kindness, I will still set goals for myself, and I will still work hard. I will have the exact same mindset and at the end of the day, 50 is just a number and it’s a number I’m proud of.” Please join me in doing a random act of kindness today to help me celebrate, and say a prayer for the world to be kinder. 🎂🎉 #StarfishClub #mentalhealth
