I'm not calling for emergency approval of hantavirus vaccines. I'm not calling for an mRNA hantavirus vaccine. I'm not calling for a vaccine mandate.
However, there should be an option to get an effective vaccine (protein, inactivated, mRNA) if the outbreak gets out of control.

Given the high severity of illness and deadliness of Andes hantaviruses in both adults and children, it would make sense for vaccine companies to fast track a vaccine for this strain - it doesn't need to be broad spectrum.
