Trust me if I had not chosen to pursue a music career, I probably would’ve ended up in the PSL, and later in Europe.

King Sobhuza II in London during his historic 1922-1923 delegation. At 23 years old, the King Sobhuza II traveled to the United Kingdom to challenge the Concessions Proclamation of 1907, a legal fight to reclaim Swazi land that had been partitioned during the colonial "scramble

MEDIA RELEASE BY KENNY KUNENE 26 March 2026 BRING IT ON, JULIUS MALEMA In response to a lawsuit filed against me by EFF leader Julius Malema, I have filed an answering affidavit in which I have attached affidavits by key witnesses. In his lawsuit, triggered by the interview I had on "Podcast and Chill with MacG", Malema claims I defamed him, including by referring to him as "a boy", a term he claims is racist. He also claims I defamed him by saying he lives in the backroom of Adriano Mazzotti. Malema also takes issue with references to his relationship with Jotham “Mswazi” Msibi. It is a matter of public record that Malema attended and spoke at Mr Msibi’s funeral. These allegations have been presented to the extent I deem necessary in my affidavit. Malema further demands that I make a public apology and pay damages of R 1 million. I want to put it on record that I have no intention of apologising to Mr Malema. I will defend myself in court and will present evidence in support of my position. I must indicate that this is the third time Malema files a lawsuit against me. I view this as nothing but shameless abuse of our courts by someone who thinks he is the only one entitled to our hard-earned freedom of expression. I look forward to having my day in court. I'm available for interviews on my affidavit from tomorrow (Friday 27 March) Kenny Kunene

Jim Bailey, the founder of Drum magazine, which revolutionised black journalism in the early 1950s. Bailey moved from Oxford, England, to South Africa in 1946 to wind up his deceased father's affairs and started farming in the Colesberg district. In March 1951, he jointly started Drum and later became its sole proprietor. He published Drum in English-speaking southern, central, and western African countries for more than three decades. In its heyday, Drum - through its outstanding photographs and inspired reporting - documented the continent's transition. It initiated photojournalism in Africa and produced a generation of African journalists. Photographer Alf Kumalo described Bailey as stimulating and approachable. "He treated his staff with utmost respect. He championed black journalism when most publishers feared apartheid. No publication dared to do what Bailey did for the country by highlighting black people's plight. He and his editors made sure that journalists were bailed out - they even went personally to fetch them from prison." After 33 years of publishing, Bailey sold Drum to Nasionale Pers in 1984 and established Bailey's African History Archives on his farm near Lanseria. In 1996, he was honoured with the title of Commander of the British Empire.
