So, you think HS S&C is entry level? 80% of your athletes come after school. You already worked a full schedule of classes, meetings, emails, etc. It’s 34 and raining outside. Two teams have to get their training in. You can’t just send the kids home or say “wait a half hour”. Take three minutes to set the plan and roll. Create the scenarios you want to see and have the athletes raise their bar. HS S&C is extremely far from entry level….

By decreasing the load (dropping the DBs) just before the jump the CNS is still excited to be able to produce the same force as if the DBs were still in hand. This results in increased performance metrics (Ex: higher or further jumps). (Handford, 2022)

Increasing the load on the eccentric phase our body believes it needs to produce the same amount of force concentrically.

As we get closer to the season we have been implementing more contrasts with our compound lifts. These past two training blocks we have experimented with contrasting a Dynamic Effort Deadlift with an Accentuated Eccentric Loading (AEL) jump. Read Why ⬇️
