Can anyone name one good animated series fronted by someone who wasn't originally a cartoonist? I'm not doubting that there are I just can't think of any

-You do whatever you want to do, idc what you do as an animator -The million strands of hair is “effort is appreciated”, just because you view it as a waste if time doesn’t mean the director or fans of ff7 advent children feel the same way -The posted idol/dance clip clutched stylish 2D artstyle with minimal animation/lazy techniques but ruins the entire aesthetic by utilizing shitty 3D renders for most of its animation scenes. -Berserk 2016 is not highly regarded, it is considered one of the worst anime adaptations in existence largely due to shitty 3d renders with horrible animation. They’re not arguments, they’re objective truths. You’re just used to starting arguments & arguing with people online my dude.

@KingKibble @Chaotik900 @ToonHive I kind of agree that the 'calarts' label gets slapped on everything too easily, but I think audiences are just tired of seeing very similar designs on characters that are supposed to be from different studios or animation that looks cheap and safe.

@RealAltartist @Chaotik900 @ToonHive then mayyybe he should use a different word? this aint even close, and even if you're talking about "calarts style" it didnt actually come from calarts. if it has a style right now its more like what vewn does/ aping ghibli. john k coined the term to complain about iron giant

@KingKibble @Chaotik900 @ToonHive I think what he means is that Genndy Tartakovsky's style is different from a lot of modern animated shows. While Genndy did go to CalArts, each of his shows have distinct designs that stand out amongst other shows.

@WeebQx @Daxank_live @anime_daily i guess two more notes: drawing or redering every strand of hair isn't "good animation" its unnecessarily busy if you you ever spent time animating well youd be able to glance at the animated parts and notice that yeah theyre redrawn every frame. maybe YOU'D do them with tweens

@WeebQx @Daxank_live @anime_daily ey pro animator here- i get what you're TRYING to say, but theres plenty of movement(sliding, hair, even sweatdrops) in the 2d parts. they had to draw frames for these things, its not like they can just click a button to make things change. maybe be less loud about being wrong??

Lmaoo you really wanna shift the goalpost instead of just admitting you were wrong? Also, to use your own strategy against yourself, -IIRC Ninja scroll is full hand-drawn animation. -Every frame was handcrafted on paper in 2D. IIRC Ninja scroll goes from 12 frames (normal scenes) and shifts to 24 frames, all hand drawn. Good 2D Artsyle with intentionally good frame pacing to produce good Animation will always be better than CGI 3D Rigging for lazy high frame animation. Anyway, Ninja scroll may not look as "good" in art-direction compared to the Anime of the last 10 years, but the Animation will reign as a masterclass for many more years to come.
