@TheAmandaGorman My 4th graders found your poem, The Hill We Climb, to be “inspiring” and “hopeful,” and found the words to be specifically anti-divisive. They could point to several lines and words that gave them that understanding.

These are the pages of my inaugural poem that an objecting parent cited as "not educational and have indirectly hate messages". And now because of that one complaint, my poem is now banned for elementary school students at a school in @MiamiDadeCounty.

@shaunpcassidy @Plasstastic This is sad that our kids are feeling so stressed. We were pretty relaxed about our kids’ college app process, and told them what’s more important is what they did when they got there. Some pressure came from HS advisers trying to help. Glad it’s behind us and they are thriving.

@Plasstastic My kid has a 4.7, all honors, he’s a great baseball player, Eagle Scout, a good, kind person… and he’s wildly stressed that he won’t get into any school (schools!) of his choice. And I’m like WTF??? I barely got through high school.

Question for my Twitter pals: I’ve hired many smart, kind, talented and accomplished people over the years. I have no idea where any of them went to college. Not a one. I never asked and never cared. Am I an anomaly? Asking as a dad with a kid killing himself to get into college.
