Today, the Rocket Propulsion Establishment is no more. Turned into a light industrial estate. It at least is on OS maps (unlike in the Cold War). The intrepid can still look for traces of old Blue Streak works like these bits of the old test silo.

Doing some research into 'The Rocket Propulsion Establishment' in Westcott in Buckinghamshire where work on Britain's intermediate ballistic missile - Blue Streak - began. Set up in 1946 what worried locals wasn't the possible accidents but potential German scientists...

Great powers have always, to some extent, written the rules for themselves. But this should be a reminder that for all we might lament the “rules based order”, it’s largely gone, if it ever existed as we thought it did. America has gone its own way and is at best indifferent to her old allies. Hard power is the only thing which matters now. Europe needs to wake up to the new realities.
