What a week it has been! Two legal victories at both regional and national levels against a global tech giant (Meta Platforms) 1. A prima facie case determination by the COMESA Competition Commission — with implications across 21 African Member States. 2. A landmark ruling by the Personal Data Protection Office (PDPO) — directly impacting over 10 million WhatsApp users in Uganda. #AdLegal #Uganda #COMESA

@DaltonKaweesa @kasim12Snr @UCC_Official Are you sure? Can one seriously respond to a ruling as though it were an ordinary letter? I dont believe your legal department could be that careless. The decision issued a clear directive. It will indeed surprise many to see counsel respond to a regulator’s binding directive

Tough questions now arise for the broadcast industry: what happens to existing advertising contracts built around split-screen ads? This is an industry disruptor!! Weldone Adlegal team. Proudly associated 💯

We welcome UCC’s well-reasoned decision following our legal action against NBS TV. UCC has ordered NBS to stop illegal split-screen advertising in current affairs programmes and directed all TV broadcasters in Uganda to abandon the practice. Decision: adlegalug.com/wp-content/upl…

Meta’s WhatsApp AI policy is under investigation by the COMESA Competition Commission following a complaint by Adlegal International alleging abuse of dominance. The probe concerns changes to WhatsApp Business terms that restrict third-party AI chatbots, such as ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Perplexity, Poe and Luzia, from accessing WhatsApp’s Business API, while favouring Meta AI, raising concerns over competition, consumer choice, and AI innovation in the COMESA region. Adlegal is seeking interim measures to suspend enforcement pending a full investigation.

The 8th CRUX Insight Report signals a possible turning point in global construction disputes. 🔹 2,200+ projects analysed across 114 countries 🔹 Scope change remains the #1 dispute driver 🔹 Design failures (late, incorrect, incomplete) continue to dominate 🔹 COVID-19 impacts peaked—affecting 1 in 4 projects 🔹 Cashflow & payment issues rising, especially on megaprojects 🔹 Contract management disputes declining, suggesting improved capability 🔹 Megaprojects hit harder by design delays, access issues & interpretation conflicts 🔹 Claimed EOTs down from 71% to 49% post-2020 🔹 Claimed cost overruns eased to 27.7% of budgets The data points to better administration, maturing contract practices, and early legal/commercial involvement—yet financial pressures and large-scale complexity continue to fuel disputes. #Construction #Infrastructure #Claims #CRUXInsights #HKA #DisputeResolution
