Governor Malombe commended KEPHIS for ensuring plant health, quality assurance, and facilitating safe trade, noting that an MoU will be effected to formalize the partnership. CECM for Agriculture Dr. Stephen Mbaya Kimwele was also present among other officers.

A courtesy call between Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe and Kenya Plant Health Inspectorate Service (KEPHIS) officials, led by Managing Director Prof. Theophilus Mutui, today explored ways to boost agricultural productivity and farmer livelihoods.

Past collaborations on seed certification and farmer trainings in Mwingi North, Kitui South, Kitui Central, and Mwingi Central in 2024 were also highlighted.

The need for farmers to adopt modern agricultural practices guided discussions on climate-resilient crops, nursery management, pest and disease control, safe use of agro-inputs, and capacity building for farmer groups.

The project has capacity to serve 2500 households per day.

The project will enhance access to clean and reliable water for local residents and improve livelihoods in the area. This is part of the county’s efforts to curb water scarcity and fulfill the Governor’s promise to expand access to reliable water services for residents.

Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe has today commissioned the Nzeeu Kavasya Ngiluni Sumpwell Water Supply Scheme rehabilitated by the County Government of Kitui in Kitui Rural Subcounty.

The facility will enhance access to safe delivery services for expectant mothers and strengthen healthcare service delivery at the grassroots level.

Governor Malombe reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to expanding access to clean water and improving the quality of life

Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe today commissioned the Kaayo–Kwa Mulungu Sumpwell Water Project - a major boost to clean and reliable water supply for communities in Kitui West.

Governor Malombe’s administration has made progress on the Kwa Musyoka/Kwa Malonza earth dam desilting which is at 65% and done the Kalimbevo pipeline extension.

In addition, the county has also implemented Kithumula Secondary School Borehole and the Kalindilo Borehole, which is supplementing the Masinga water supply.

The project has a sump well, a high-capacity pump powered by solar energy, storage tanks, distribution pipelines, water kiosks &sanitation facilities, serving Kwa Mulungu, Wayani, &Kalindilo areas with a population of about 2,000 people, including schools and other institutions.

On her part, the County Executive Committee Member for Health and Sanitation Ruth Koki announced that the county government is installing theatre equipment at Kauwi Level IV Hospital to further strengthen service delivery.

Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe today commissioned Kilimu Dispensary in Kithumula Kwa Mutonga Ward to boost healthcare services in the area.

The facility, whose construction had stalled for several years, was completed under the Governor’s administration to improve access to quality healthcare for local residents.

The visit sought to strengthen inter-agency collaboration, enhance institutional cooperation, and deliberate on matters of mutual interest relating to security, public order, and the effective administration of justice within Kitui County.
