Awards shows are mostly stupid. Scott Van Pelt not winning an Emmy is even...stupider. Best interviewer, best essayist, funniest, and most importantly biggest sportsFAN--the people's champ..and he does it late, often last minute, and nightly. (Best golf announcer too). I’m enjoying watching a golf tournament where par is a good score, but I totally understand why some players think it’s ridiculous. Anyone who actually puts it near the pin on a hole like this is being rewarded for a bad shot. The only place you’d actually aim is for the middle. And then it just becomes whoever can drain a 30 footer, which is mostly luck on these undulating greens

@JustinMacmahan It's surprising to me that Rory would have this opinion. Usually he has the most level-headed opinions on the game in general across the tour. This is one of them layouts that in early 2000s Tiger would have won by double digits.

I actually agree. I’m just saying I get why players like Scottie and Rory don’t like this. They want the correct shot to give them less than 35 feet for birdie. Guys who miss aren’t being punished much at all. Whether you have 65 feet or 35 it’s not that different, and if they happen to miss toward the hole they might luck into a birdie

@JustinMacmahan 98% of these tournaments it's a "chip n putt" for these guys, then as soon as they need to play golf the way it's meant to be played, they have an issue. Imo, Aronimink is exactly how golf should be played.

@JustinMacmahan Not every hole at a major championship needs to be a birdie hole. Major championship are about course strategy and resilience throughout the week. Who can limit mistakes. Who can take advantage of certain pins, who hits fairways and GIRs, who knows when to take their medicine...
