#TeamSanto: mini-AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF DON SANTO My name is DON SANTO and I am a Klassikan and a rising artist & producer in the world of Kalpop music. I was born and raised in Kenya, where I grew up surrounded by my family's collection of African music and other global stars. Musa Juma, Michael Jackson, Franco Luambo, R. Kelly, Bob Marley, Lucky Dube, E-Sir, and Fela Kuti were some of my biggest influences growing up. Dr Dre, Ted Josiah, Timbaland, Bruce Odhiambo (late), and Reuben Kigame are some of the producers that have inspired me as a producer. They still do. My love for music began at a young age when I was given a microphone to lead a song in church at the age of 8. The entire congregation joined in singing and dancing, and from that moment on, I knew that music was my calling. As I got older, I began to experiment with combining traditional African music with modern pop and electronic music. I started playing the guitar and honed my skills in songwriting and singing. Eventually, my passion for music led me to pursue it as a career. My first breakout hit was "She’s On Fire," a collaboration with Jilly Beatz. The song quickly gained popularity in Kenya and across East Africa, and I was soon signed to Klassik Nation @KlassikNationHQ record label, which I co-founded. Since then, I have released a string of successful singles, including "Sexy Lady," "Migingo," "Nifundishe," "Fantasmagorikol," "Talk About Love," "Kalpop Spell," "Hold My Hand," "Ushuhuda," "Amilo," and "Kenyan Girl." I have also released four albums (#Alpha, #AmBlack, #AfricanLion, and Definition of the Badman Killa 1 #DOTBK1) and 2 EPs (#AfricanLionEP & #CalvaryTheEP), all of which reflect my unique sound that blends traditional African music with modern pop beats. My music is known for its high-energy beats and catchy melodies, as well as its incorporation of traditional African instruments and rhythms. I often sing in Swahili and English, but also incorporate other African and global languages into my lyrics. My goal is to push the boundaries of Kalpop music and bring my unique sound to new audiences while staying true to my roots in traditional African music. As a young artist, I am dedicated to constantly experimenting with new sounds and styles. I have collaborated with other Kalpop artists and have performed at festivals and events throughout the region.
