Live Free or Die Hard (2007) is better than the franchise reputation it gets stuck with. The practical stunts, and the McClane–Justin Long dynamic give it real personality. The fifth film collapsed the brand, but this one doesn’t belong in that category.

There’s a big sequence near the middle of HOKUM where it’s just Adam Scott attempting to get out of a situation he’s in, and it’s got to be one of the most tense, nail-biting sequences you’ll see all year. While it may be a bit vague in its folklore, it excels in camerawork, lighting, and maintaining that dread at an unbearable level #SXSW

Most action scripts escalate their set pieces, making each one bigger than the last. Gladiator does the opposite. Each set piece is smaller than the last, becoming more and more personal.

Rightfully so. It ain’t even “the boring choice.” Watch any of their behind the scenes and VFX breakdown on what they had to do to integrate human actors into the world they created and your mind will explode.
