When asked how the themes of his storytelling presentation still resonate today, Alex shared, “Mentorship continues to be deeply rewarding work for me. Outside of my research, I volunteer as a coach to prepare college students for the job market.”

KHS storytelling workshops are back in session for scholars this week, so we caught up with scholar Alex Chow to reflect on how the program has shaped his academic and professional career five years later.

Led by Stanford Oceans professor Rob Dunbar, the group visited Palau’s marine ecosystems & heard from scientists and NGOs, met with government officials and community leaders working to protect Palau and its people, and immersed themselves in Palauan culture – and the ocean 😉
