If you have a major issue and it's fixed by adjusting one slider, what's the problem with that inherently? All it means is that you can easily fix your own problem if you so desire, so I don't see why this is anything but a good thing for people who actually want to play games

@KnightlyPhantom You're right, anytime I buy I game I should just be able to make it whatever I want it to be. Sekiro would be perfect if I could just replenish my healing gourds, slow down the game speed and rest at any point I want.

@Lensar_dawn To be civil, there is definitely something to be said about a game that sticks in one lane and knows exactly what it is. Hell, that's why Fromsoft games are so beloved, but I think it really does depend on the game. I don't really believe in telling people what they "can't do"

@HikanowaGuild I do think this is a fair argument, but also, nobody tells you to edit those out the box. They're obviously just there for people who end up wanting to change something, regardless on if they're something you can mess around with from the start or not

I'm not mad that it exists because having it would lead to many ways to replay the game, but I think the devs should have players play through the game first before unloading all those options. By default, the only slider a new player really need is "Easy ---- Normal ---- Hard". This should encompass a lot of the numerical modifiers seen in the video (0.75x damage rate for Easy, 1.50x damage rate for Hard for example). As an example, If you've never played a game before, should you install mods for it? You wont know if adding the mods would improve the experience for you because you don't know what the default experience is like. You have nothing to compare it to. Do you have no faith that the developer can provide you a satisfying gaming experience before you attempt to make changes to it? Because of that, all these deep modifications shouldn't be available until after clearing the game. Let the developers make a core experience and enjoy that core experience first before going wild.

@Lensar_dawn I can't believe I have the iconic Lensar Dawn in my replies! Well, I also work on games, and while I don't typically do it myself, I don't think tailoring your difficulty to your audience is inherently a sign of a wholly trash experience. It seems we're at an impasse!

@Lensar_dawn I just don't understand why, at all. You can just... play the game out of the box. The only thing adding this tiny ass feature does is give people more options with the game, which people absolutely love doing all the time with any game that has ever existed. Straight up nonsense

@G0ttaGoFastt I would argue these are also examples of what I'm talking about. If, say, the exploration is poor, then the player doesn't feel enabled to explore or have fun in that aspect, so the game doesn't provide them with the tools necessary to have fun
